Happy Birthday little lady

Today I am baffled to think that our little lady has gone from this...

to this...

A beautiful five year old sassy, sweet and full of life little lady. I'm so very behind on blogging and I was hopeful to get all caught up by now, but I just have so many thoughts today as I look at my leading lady that I just needed to send a warm Happy Birthday her way!  12 years ago as I thought about what kind of life Darin and I might have, I envisioned a house full of little ladies.  I grew up with mostly sisters and only one brother so that was normal for me.  When we found out Camden was a boy, I thought for sure the rest would be girls.  When we went to Carter's ultrasound I was a little shocked to find out another boy was on the way.  2 Boys!!! What was I going to do with 2 boys! Well Carter came and I realized the Lord had given me what I never knew I always wanted.  When it was time for Myah's ultrasound I was certain it was my destiny to have all boys.  When they told me it was a girl I could hardly believe my ears!  I was so excited to finally have a little baby girl!  After she came I figured if we had anymore children only girls would follow.  I just had to get my sweet boys here first! I wanted her to have a sister so when we went to Dawson's ultrasound I knew a sister was on her way.  I was wrong:) And while I wouldn't trade my sweet little Dawsy boy for a million girls, I wondered how I ended up with 3 boys and only one little lady.  Well, I knew if I would be willing to try one more time Myah would get her sister. While this news is a post for another day....baby number 5 is on its way! However....it is not a sister for Myah but another little brother. 4 boys!!!!  For the girl who thought her life would be full of girl stuff, just the opposite is coming true.  Lots of boys with lots of boy stuff.  As I have thought about this for the past several weeks all of a sudden I have realized something.  Heavenly Father has taught me to be so thankful for what I have been given.  He knows me and what our family needs and what our family was suppose to be.  And with that...can I tell you how absolutely grateful I am for this sweet little 5 year old girl!!!!!  All of a sudden I don't take the fact that I was blessed with a daughter for granted.  It is a huge blessing for me and Darin and I think I needed to realize that. She is always going to have a special place in our hearts because she is just a little bit different from the rest!  So here are some of the reason's that today I am so thankful for this sweet little lady of mine....
1. Because of Myah I can refer to my children as my "kids" and not just my boys:)
2. Because of Myah I get invited to the neighborhood bow parties:)
3. Because of Myah I got to throw a Rainbow princess party yesterday.  Nothing like a house full of little girls dressed as princesses!
4. Because of Myah I get to whip out the old sewing machine and make as many ruffles as I would like!
5. Because of Myah I get to buy pink!
6. Because of Myah I have been able to buy girl toys and movies.
7. Because of Myah I will one day get to go prom dress shopping!
8. Because of Myah I get to go to dance reviews!
9. Because of Myah I get to do fancy hair do's....oh how I love to play with her hair.
10. Because of Myah I get to have one child that relates a little bit more to me than their dad:)

Those are just kind of my superficial reasons for why I love having a girl, but truth be told, I cannot imagine my life without her.  Some woman would be fine with all boys, but she filled a part of my heart that was always missing and for that I am grateful! She will be one protected little lady with so many brothers how lucky is that!  She loves her brothers and I am so thankful she will be able to teach them to be a little softer and a little sweeter so that they know how to treat girls a little better.  I do worry about all of her brothers friends though;) I might be in trouble! Now that you know why I love little miss Myah.  Here are some things she loves these days.
1.The color purple
2.Skirts and dresses.  Still can't get her to wear a pair of jeans! She is the girliest girl I know!
3. She loves to play with her friends.
4. She loves Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious, primary songs, Lalaloopsy, Horseland and Bob the Builder (what do you expect with all of those brothers!)
5. She loves jumping on the tramp, riding her bike and scooter and loves to swim.
6. She loves to shop for shoes, jewelry and dresses:)
7. Lately she loves to whine about everything!
8. She loves to dance and is constantly twirling around the house.
9. She LOVES rice krispies:)
10. She loves to be snuggled to bed at night!

Well Happy Birthday Myah! We all love you and are sooooo glad to have you in our family...especially me!

first day of school

Now that school is coming close to being over, I thought a first day of school picture was due!  Carter started 2nd grade this year with Mrs. Greene and Camden started 4th grade with Mrs. Anderson.  Both have had fun and learned a lot.  Here they are being their goofy selves!  I can't believe they are getting so old!

The boat

My parents were done with all of the fun....now we have much to look forward to! We bought ourselves a boat.

Here is just one of our adventures with Allison and her crew...we missed Dan!
Myah and Saylor saying a prayer.  The boat broke down for a minute and we needed all the help we could get.  I thought this was pretty priceless!

St. George

It is all a warm dream now....but we had fun...especially at the pool!

40°

Im soooooo behind. I still need to post the end of summer, all of fall, Christmas, a fabulous trip to Hawaii that feels like a dream now and all of our happenings this winter. I really will catch up....someday when i have a minute. For now though I just had to post the happiness i felt today when I was driving Myah to preschool. The thermometer read 40°! Not only that but Myah asked what that bright light shining in her eyes was. I happily replied "the SUN". For those of you who dont live here in the Arctic with me are probably wondering why this event is so great and especially why its worth a blog post. Well Jan has been rough. We have been lucky to warm above 10°· It has been bleak and dreary looking outside everday to see the fog and muck in the air.  The days we have had sun, the smog was to thick to see it or feel its warmth. Well today  is finally Feb.! We survived Jan.! The air has cleared, the sun warmed my face and my soul and even though the inversion will most likely return its ugly face...today is beautiful and for that I am so grateful. Happy February!

In August we had our annual Chatterton Family reunion in Paradise.  My kids look forward to it every year which makes me happy, because they rarely know half of the people there so it is always fun for them to make new friends.  They always think we are going to "Uncle Jerry's reunion" for some reason they always see him as the one in charge. I think it is always fun to see all of my aunts, uncles and cousins and their kids. This year didn't disappoint!
The first night I took Myah and Dawson home to sleep in their beds while Darin stayed with the older two and camped in the cabins.  Dawson did NOT want to leave, so I bribed him with a large marshmallow to eat on the car ride home.  This is what I found when I went to get him out of his car seat!  Who knew a single marshmallow could do so much damage!

On Sat. they were able to rent the water slide and the "Little Bear Bottom"  It had been several years since they had been able to rent it...I guess it is pretty hard to reserve.  Anyway my kids and Darin were in heaven.  They had so much fun zooming down the hill covered in bubbles!
Myah was a little unsure of whether or not she would have a good time as she looked down the hill....
Dawson thought it was great on the other hand and wouldn't stop climbing back up to do it again and again!

Myah finally dared to go down with her dad....

Not a fan after all!!! She takes after her mother a little more than I would like:)

Here are lots of pictures of the boys having fun!

Baby Otto
Lesli and her boys!

This is Myah and my cousins little girl Kylie.  They had so much fun together.  Myah still asks about her cousin Kylie from California!

After the slide we went back to the camp and played all night.  Look at Darin being such a good sport with all of those kids!
And here is our picture of the "Little Thelma's" My grandma left behind a great legacy...and this is only half of them!
 Until next year!

The Fun of the Chase

How many are we entertaining out there?
