Carter's month long celebration!

I have been meaning to post these pictures forever...better late than never right? So we celebrated Carter's birthday a LOT!!! A couple of weeks before his birthday, we took all of the kids to see Playhouse Disney Live. We stayed at a hotel, went swimming, out to eat and even rode the train to see the show. Guess who forgot the camera every single time!! I did manage to get one picture of us at the hotel...or I guess I should say Darin did. We had such a good time. It was fun to just relax and have fun with the kids. It's times like those I just love being a mom and having our own little family!
The week before his birthday we invited all of the crew from my side of the family over for cake and ice cream. None of them (except Ashley who was sick and didn't come) were going to be around for his birthday and I didn't want him to feel bad. It was also my Dad and my sister Lesli's birthday's so we had a family celebration. We had a good time!

Finally his "real" birthday rolled around and we had his real party. Darin's mom cam over along with Ashley and Paul and we celebrated Super-Man style!I decided to make Carter a superman/batman (it's reversible) cape for his birthday. However I knew Camden would be heart broken if he didn't get one as well. So the night before I stayed up way past my bedtime and got the capes finished. They turned out pretty good and they LOVED them! They also both got new jammies....Camden's were spider man.....he thought he could just combine all super hero's into one!I still can't believe that he is four!!!

Thanks for coming Ash and Paul.....
you too Oma....it wouldn't be the same without you!

10 months

Myah is getting bigger every day. She is getting into everything, putting everything into her mouth and just is one busy little lady. She has been nice to her mom and has been sleeping so good that some mornings I worry she hasn't woken yet. She is babbling like crazy and loves to play with her brothers. I think it won't be long until she is running all over the place...have I ever mentioned they grow to fast? We attempted a photo shoot this morning and ended up with a few good ones. The above picture was my favorite and the next two turned out pretty cute as well. We sure love this little gal!

Happy birthday C-Man!

My little Carter, is not so little anymore! We celebrated 4 crazy little years with him today. And in honor I am going to list the top 4 things I love about him. (accompanied with the birthday picture of the same year.) #4. His crazy faces...they say enough for themselves!

#3. His imagination! He is my child who won't brush his teeth or make his bed unless it is accompanied by some exciting story usually having something to do with super heroes.

#2. His smile. He has one of those melt your heart "get whatever I want smiles".

#1. He LOVES to snuggle with me!!
AND....I love when he looks at me and with the most innocent little voice says. "I wuv you mom!".

Carter, we are so glad to have you in our family! It would never be the same without all of the excitement that you bring into our home. We LOVE you!

Mom, we can be neighbors!

So this just made me laugh and I wanted proof in the future. This morning I was telling Camden which schools he will be attending as he gets older. After we finished high school he asked me which college he would have to go to. I proceeded to tell him he could choose any college he wanted. He thought about it for a minute and then said he decided he would go to the university close to where we live. I asked him how come and he said:

"So, I can live by you!"

And then his face lit up and he said:

"I know, when our neighbors sale their house and move, I will buy it and live next YOU!!!!"

For the rest of the morning he just had this giddy grin and had a huge smile on his face and just kept saying :
"It is going to be so much fun to be your neighbor mom!"

I just smiled and thought how great it would be if he always will think that much of his dad and me! Soon he was in his coat and backpack and running out the door to catch the bus, when he turned around and smiled at me and said:
"Don't worry mom, I will make you pwoud of me!"

What a fun little kid...most of the time :)

Magic!

Do you remember as a child when your mom or dad came into the room and somehow it made everything better? I remember once, very vividly for some reason having a particularly hard day. I was probably 12. I was having one of those cry yourself to sleep nights when out of the blue my mom came in the room, snuggled up next to me in my bed and just laid by me until I was asleep. It was magic how quickly everything was better. Last night I realized that now I am also magical. I guess it is something I inherited almost 6 years ago when that tiny baby was placed into my arms, but it didn't really hit me until last night. Carter had a rough night, growing pains I think, but somehow bringing him into our room and snuggling him tight made him feel all better. His little arms snuggled around mine as tight as he could and soon my magic made it all better. Sometimes you don't realize what you mean to someone until you snuggle your little child and realize that you are his mom and nothing could ever take your place! Enjoy your kids....because you are their mom... and because you are magic!

Thank you!

Well I have been trying to find something to post about, but it seems life has just been crazy busy the past little while. Nothing really exciting to post about. Camden got sick this week...no fun! He is funny though. Ever since he was a baby he has really been pretty healthy. No ear infections, no strep throat, no croup....nothing!! But every year or maybe twice a year he just gets a really high fever for a day or two with no symptoms....none. His body fights and then he is fine. Once or twice I have taken him in and they have run tests but everything always comes back fine and they just call it a virus of sorts. Weird, anyone else out there who have kids that do the same thing. I really am only looking for confirmations of normalcy.....no scary crazy illnesses that were a result of this type of behavior. I am a HUGE hypochondriac (spelling?) and don't need to worry more than I already do! Carter should be reaching the end of his terrible two's now that he is almost 4 right? Any words of encouragement that the temper tantrums will end would be greatly appreciated !(seeing as how my 5 year old still throws them I am getting a little worried they will last into adulthood) And all I have to say about Myah, is that we have attempted pig tails....Ok so I know it is a stretch but I am just getting a little anxious to do hair. I know you moms of multiple girls are sighing right now, but I have had two boys....let me enjoy the excitement while it lasts!

(only picture I took all week!)

Another thing that seemed to take up all my time this week was preparing a talk for sacrament meeting. I was asked to speak on the importance of example by friends. It made me a little sentimental thinking about all of you who have touched my life. Some of you I meet as a little girl, others high school, some of you college and others as wonderful neighbors. I have been so blessed to associate with all of you no matter when our where our lives crossed paths! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for being such wonderful examples to me....I will forever be grateful!

Mega Post!

I had to get caught up!!!! So below is a lot of new posts!!! Don't feel like you need to read them all, but I feel much better knowing I am up to date! I hope you all had a great holiday season!!! Now that it is over.............please spring don't leave me here in winter for too long!!!!

9 months and still growing!

Aughhhhh.....were has my baby gone! I swear I just had her and she is just growing up way to fast! Myah turned 9 months old last week. She has just changed so much the past little while! She has sprouted two more teeth on top (and not the ones you would expect...the two on either side of her front middle teeth....she really is taking after her big brother Camden). She has started crawling (Christmas Eve....what a gift to give herself), she is eating 3 meals a day. She just devoured her first teething biscuit and loved it! She has started babbling and to her daddy's complete delight her first sounds are dada (he can hardly contain a smile when she starts talking), her hair is finally starting to grow back and she loves to make raspberries at her brothers. She loves to give kisses and she just about has giving 5 and waving good-bye down. And as much as I love all of her interaction I hate seeing her grow up!!!!JUST STAY LITTLE!!! She is such a sweetheart...I could just eat her! She in the meantime is going to eat anything and everything that she can find on the floor....constant worry for me. I have to check all floor surfaces before setting her down. It is so much harder when you have older kids with tiny toys. My boys were definitely much easier that way---we didn't have little toys then, or messy older brothers! I took her to the doctor the other day and she was weighing in at 16 lbs. 13 oz. (20%) and was in the 35% for height. But don't let numbers fool you.....she is sporting some great rolls and you just can't help but pinch those chubby little legs and smother those chubby cheeks in kisses! I am just in complete denial that she will be a year in only 3 more months! Why can't they stay little for just a little longer!!!! We just love you little miss Myah!

And here is Myah's crawling debut....just don't mind the ruckus going on in the background!

Trains!

We tried to come up with a few fun things to do over the break, but since it snowed soooo much I didn't want to venture out with 3 kids very often. The boys wanted to make a gingerbread house, but since I never got to the store for a kit and I didn't have enough ambition to make my own, we settled for candy trains. You should have seen Carter's (my sugar baby) face light up when I handed him a bowl full of candy....it was a dream come true! I was impressed with there creations. Camden (on top) did his all alone and I only helped Carter a little (below). It was fun. And when we were done we snuggled on the couch and watched Polar Express. It was a fun day!

Christmas day!

Wow I can't beleive that Christmas came and went by soooo fast this year! I look forward to it for so long and then it is just over so fast!!! We had a great time. We love living close enough to family that we can spend time with them, but then still go home to have Christmas day at our house. It really is great. We have traditions each year that usually stay the same. On Christmas Eve we go out to my parents house for dinner, present exchange and if time permits (which it didn't this year) we go see the lights in Preston. My kids were just to excited to get home and in bed so Santa could come. Unfortunately it was a whirl wind getting to my parents this year and I totally spaced grabbing the camera...so Christmas Eve pictures...I have to get from someone else. Oh well. Once we came home we got all of the kids in bed and then waited for the magic to begin. Isn't Christmas fun! When we woke up.....or when Camden woke us all up at 6:30 (this was the funnest year so far with him. He was so excited he could hardly stand it!) We all went downstairs to see if Santa had come.....
.....he had!!

Camden was jumping up and down with excitement!
Carter slept a little longer than Camden, but when he made it downstairs he was already in his Santa hat ready to see what he had been given! Myah was just fascinated with all of the wrapping paper and commotion. She gave herself the gift of crawling on Christmas Eve, so I think the novelty of getting around was the greatest pass time!
Darin's mom came and stayed overnight with us. It was fun to have her there! (on a side note, these pictures are all in our basement....that was Darin and my gift to each other...finishing our basement. It isn't quite finished, but we are almost there hurray!!!)
Later, after a breakfast of creme-brulee french toast (sooooo yummy!), we opened up our presents upstairs that we had for one another. The boys just ripped through presents like a tornado and left the house looking like one had really hit!
Camden and Carter weren't really interested in getting there pictures taken, but they did hug each other with excitement when they opened up a present together...isn't it great how presents can bring two brothers together! (sigh)This was the best smile I could get from Camden. He didn't want to look at the camera. He was focused only on unwrapping gifts!Camden drew Myah's name and was very insistent on buying her a doll. He said we didn't have any and she really needed one. He really wanted to get her a barbie doll, but I told him she wasn't quite big enough for that yet! As you can see, she loved it!After we got ready for the day we headed to Darin's mom's for lunch. Dan and Allison came with Dallin and Saylor. I realized I didn't take many pictures except for some of Myah and Saylor. They were much better posers than their brothers so I thought I would add one of them!
For those of you who have read my blog for a while might remember back in April, Dan and Allison were blessed with little Saylor through adoption. As she has grown, it is amazing at how much she really looks like her mom and dad and I don't think anyone would question that her and Myah are cousins.....in fact I often hear comments on how much they look alike! I think they are going to be great little friends! What a fun Christmas we had! Not to mention the next day was spent with the rest of Darin's family! I just hope I was able to get my kids to understand the real meaning of Christmas and they will always remember that the only gift that matters is the one that the Savior gave to us. What a miraculous gift we each have been given. Merry Christmas to you all !

Do you like the snow?

So it has been snowing here...and snowing....and snowing! I love the snow and it was perfect for Christmas, but I think we need a snow blower! Darin and I are pooped from shoveling! Luckily the day we received a good 12" or so our great neighbor came down with his 4-wheeler and got us out of a very heavy situation. Just so you know Jake....Carter would now like to be a snow-plower when he grows up. He found it very fascinating! The best part of the snow.....also the worst......we got all new tires and rims for our van. Thanks to our fabulous snow removal system in our town (which I will leave nameless) I spun out my van when pulling into our cul-de-sac on one of those stormy days, smashed into the curb and popped one of our wonderful run-flat tires. They are great until you have to replace one ($$$$$), so hence we got rid of all run-flat tires and rims and replaced them with all new less expensive ones so if this happens again in the future we won't be out so much $$$$$. Merry Christmas to us! Don't you love when you get to buy unexpected gifts for yourself....especially at Christmas time!

View out our front door...And out the back...

Suday best!

Next time I will know that if we have 1:00 church we should take our pictures BEFORE church....lesson learned!

Camden's Kindergarten debut!

Camden had his first Kindergarten program for Christmas this year. He was so funny!! I have never seen a kid more embarrassed in my life!!! He was front and center....not a good place for someone with stage fright! He would not even look at me. Everyone was singing to their parents and this was Camden. Turned sideways unable to look at anyone in the audience. I got him to look at me for a minute and then he hurried and shut his eyes and looked at the ground. I think little Evan next to him was thinking "dude, what is your deal!!!" and the kid on the other side of him was just happy...I think he was one of Santa's elves spying on all of the other children!

Finally by the end I got him to smile....which is another story itself. He would all of a sudden just start posing like he was in a photo shoot. So there are all of the kids singing and Camden is just completely posed for a picture. I haven't laughed that hard in a while! It was a cute program. Afterwards when I was talking to his teacher she just said "I had NO idea he would be so nervous up there. I would never have guessed that about him!" Well that makes two of us!!! Way to go Camden! And if you asked Camden he would just smile and say "I just have a little bit of stage fwight."

San Diego! (catch up time!)

Darin and I had a great trip to San Diego. It was one of the funnest trips we have been on. It was hard to leave Myah (I knew my boys would be fine!) because she is still so little and we are still quite attached (literally), but we both survived and it was good to have a break from my job! We did a lot of fun things. We stayed in a little beach rental on Mission Beach. It was a quaint little house. The parking was a little scary (very small garage...good thing we rented a compact..it was a mazda 3 however...our new envy!) but just what we needed to get away. One of my favorite things about where we stayed was breakfast our first morning. Since we had no food we walked down to a little restaurant just a block away called The Mission Cafe. It was so yummy! We had blackberry banana pancakes and rosemary potatoes. Rachel Ray...if you are reading it is a definite must for $40 a day! After our morning breakfast we went hiking on the Torrey Pines Reserve! Absolutely breathtaking!
Torrey Pines is also home to a famous golf course, so we had to get a picture! It was one of the most pretty golf courses that I have ever seen!Later that night we went to Coronado. It is a little island off of San Diego. It was also beautiful. We had a fun dinner that night....I tried some fish...swordfish....suprisingly very yummy!

The next day we thought we would venture to the Happiest place on earth....Disneyland. How much happier could parents of three be going to Disneyland without a stroller, tired kids or spending money on overpriced toys. There was no complaining and no taking turns on the adult rides while one of us stayed with the kids. It was sooooo much fun!!! That being said, I really really really want to take my kids there. They would have a blast! They had an amazing firework show that night. They lit the castle up....this picture doesn't give it justice, it was incredible! Then next day was Sat. and we officially celebrated our anniversary of 8 years. We got all dressed up and drove to Balboa Park and had lunch at the Prada....Very fun! Afterwards we went and saw the musical "The Grinch who stole Christmas". It was really cute!
Afterwards we were able to go to the San Diego temple. I had never been inside of that temple before and it is just about as amazing on the inside that it is on the outside. With all of the golden spiral staircases I felt like a real Cinderella and was being escorted by my own prince charming. It was a really neat evening, a tradition I hope we always keep! The next morning it was back to reality. Our day was long (we had a layover in Denver), we got home that evening and I was really looking forward to seeing my kids. Going away always makes you realize how much you love being a parent. It was a great trip though and I love spending time with my wonderful husband....my best friend!

The Fun of the Chase

How many are we entertaining out there?
